Questions to Ask Your Mover: International Moving Quotes

One of the most or least stressful things you've ever done is traveling abroad. Having several quotes is one main step to finding the right moving business.

When you do, you should consider asking each company any or all of the 12 questions mentioned below to ensure that all the services you expect and need are given to you by the company you choose.

1. Do you provide service from door to door?

A full door-to-door moving service should be provided by international movers, while international shippers can only provide shipping between two ports.

2. What kind of insurance are you offering?

If no moving insurance is provided by your company, run it.

They will protect all reputable movers.

It's critical, though, that you know what their insurance does and doesn't cover.

3. Is the packing part included in the price?

It is important that you know whether packaging is included with your total cost or not, as it can add up to the cost.

4. How are my items going to be shipped?

You must have a clear understanding of how your products are going to be delivered.

It could just be a basic truck for trips just across the border.

However, it can include trucks to port to ship to port to train and back to a truck again for more complicated moves overseas.

5. How long is that move going to take?

Various companies would have different capacities and capabilities for moving fleets.

Others will offer products on exactly the timetable you want, and others can give you a variety of choices from which you can choose.

6. Do you manage the entire move or will multiple companies be involved in it?

All destinations can be managed by moving companies.

Many foreign movers, however, have business partnerships for movements that they can not fulfill themselves.

7. Of which moving organizations and associations does your company belong?

While it's not a guarantee of a good moving company to belong to a foreign moving association or organisation, it is a very positive example.

8. What kind of packing materials do you use?

You want to ensure that your household goods remain unchanged and undamaged at the other end of the move.

Therefore, knowing what types of packaging materials a company would use for your transfer is a smart idea.

9. Can I do real-time monitoring of my goods?

Until a few years ago, at any given moment, you will always have little or no information as to where your things were in the moving process.

With the internet and GPS, however, it is now becoming much more popular to be able to monitor your goods, using the internet or software on your computer, in real or near real time.

10. Do you have managing [X] experience?

All trustworthy movers know moving basics, such as furniture, clothing, books, kitchen appliances, etc.

It is also very popular for movers these days to have experience with moving vehicles such as cars or motorcycles and common pets such as cats and dogs.

11. For a while, will my goods be stored? And if so, how?

Your goods may have to be placed in a storage while making a move overseas when waiting for it to be loaded onto a truck.

Besides, when being unloaded, they may need to wait in the port and may have to be held in a store until customs clearance.

12. Can I speak with previous clients?

Finally, if you want to be extra positive about any foreign moving business, ask them if you can talk to any customers who have been happy before.

Hopefully, they will send you a couple of people to speak with.

To be extra sure, you'll want to read online feedback, but this will allow you to ask specific questions to individuals who have been through a similar step to the one you're above.
